Volunteer Opportunities

We believe that everyone has gifts that they can share with the world. These kids deserve a safe place to heal, grow, and rise. Even if you can’t open your home to a child, you can still help. You can truly make a difference.

We exist to support Foster and Adoptive families with the goal of seeing every child Rise to their full potential.

Foster care is an incredibly challenging endeavor for both the kids, who have been removed from their homes, and the foster parents, that are putting their families in an incredibly vulnerable position to provide a safe home for kids in need. This in mind, over 50% of foster parents close their license in less than a year! Often times, foster parents feel overwhelmed, alone and like they have no control in the child(ren)’s life.

Rise volunteers team up to provide vital support and encouragement to foster parents. We make sure foster parents are seen and know they are not alone.

County workers are the glue that holds the foster system together. They manage, child-welfare cases and have to help coordinate the dozens of people and roles that surround each foster child placed in their case-load. Caseworkers are often overwhelmed and burnt out with the case-load and complexities that come from making decisions on behalf of kids, parents and foster parents.  When foster parents bend or break under the pressure and are unable to remain in care of a child or they close their license entirely it creates additional stress and frustration for all involved.

Rise volunteers are perfectly placed, supporting foster parents, to help avoid the above situation. Our relationships with foster parents makes it easier for caseworkers to focus on the children and the cases that need additional support.

We provide all the training you need! Before you are assigned to a team you will attend a two hour training talking through expectations and different situations you may encounter. We also provide opportunities for Trauma Informed Trainings so that you can better understand and support your family.

When you become part of a Rise volunteer team you are committing to support a family for 1 year. That said, support manifests in many different ways and typically results in 1-4 support activities per month. Check out a list of potential activities in the, “How will I Serve a Family?” section below.

You and the rest of your Rise team will come along one foster family and focus on supporting the foster parents meeting some of their most basic needs. Though every family we serve is different, here are some ways our existing volunteers have lifted up their foster parents:
  • Meals
  • Laundry
  • Babysitting for a date night
  • Coffee
  • House Cleaning
  • Yard Work or Painting
  • Gift Cards
  • Hand-written notes of encouragement.

Ultimately, our goal is to meet the family where they are and giving them one less thing to think about so that they can focus on loving the child in their care.
